MEMORIAL DAY 2022

 For many, Memorial Day is considered the first day of summer a time to celebrate with family gatherings, shopping, cookouts, and vacations. It is however a solemn day.

 Memorial Day was established as a United States federal holiday to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice and died while serving in the military.  "The   National Moment of Remembrance" ask all citizens to have one minute of silence at 3 PM local time in tribute.  Taps Across America will be played for the third year at that time.

This day is also a day I have chosen to acknowledge and remember all non-military family members who have died.  I would like to recognize family members who have died from all causes from Memorial Day 2021 to the present. We remember the smiling faces, life lessons learned, and celebrate their lives.

Family Reunion

 Today is the tenth anniversary of  my blog.  Ten years ago I decided that my family and related families which I call the branches had important histories.  I have made 126 blog posts.  My genealogy research journey of my ancestors have given insight into their lives and the history of this country. I have found many ancestors'  lives were intertwined with families in the same geographic area. I have many cousins. My cousins have  travelled the research journey with me.  

 Through the years there have been family reunions which assembles the branches and generations together. The reunions continue  this year with the Brumfield, Caston, Nichols and Washington families.  Much fun is anticipated. More family stories will be gathered together for the research to continue. Finding Frank Brumfield Part 7 and The Genealogist Tool Box

Frank Brumfield has been identified as a child of Liddie Brumfield Caston by the late Rodger Dale Wilson in 2007. No documentation of the relationship has been located at this time.   Frank Brumfield born before 1870  is not enumerated in the Federal or state census as a child of Liddie.  

I have identified three individuals who might be a child of Liddie. There is the possibility of a fourth unidentified person.

Assumptions that have been identified concerning Richard, Irvin, Tom, and Frank Brumfield:

1. They all are brothers and have the same mother Liddie and father Louis.

2. The brothers have the same maternal autosomal DNA.

3. The brothers lived in the same geographic area for most of their lives.

4. Genealogy research of Frank Brumfield and his family tree is available and accurate.

5. All the brothers had descendant of children.  

6. Results of most of the brothers' descendants' DNA are available.  

I have not been able to definitely find Frank Brumfield son of Liddie at this time. I will continue using the genealogist toolbox I have developed for research. I will also continue to look for more tools.

Finding Frank Brumfield Part 6

 

In identifying Frank Brumfield, the son of Liddie Brumfield Caston, the names of his spouse and children were my first research goal. In Finding Frank Brumfield Part one, there are 3 possible individuals who were the son of Liddie. I have previously identified two of the three individuals named Frank Brumfield who maybe the son.

 Frank Brumfield was born in Mississippi on September, 1844 or 1846. He married Priscilla Ann Ricks in 1864. She was born in Louisiana on October, 1849, 1846 0r 1850. Their birth and marriage information were obtained from the 1870 1880, 1900 federal census enumerated from the 2nd Ward, Tangipahoa, Louisiana.

Frank Brumfield died approximately in 1905 in Tangipahoa, Louisiana. Priscilla Ann Ricks Brumfield died on February 2, 1923 in Tangipahoa, Louisiana. To this union, they had 15 children who have been identified. The maiden names all spouses have not been identified at this time.  

Their children were:

NANNIE BRUMFIELD was born on 26 Nov 1876 in Kentwood, Tangipahoa, Louisiana, United States. She died on 22 Dec 1935 in Chicago, Cook, Illinois (Restville Cemetery Worth, Illinois). She married Washington Thompson on 31 Dec 1888 in Tangipahoa, Louisiana. He was born in 1864 in Louisiana

 ELLA BRUMFIELD was born about 1868 in Louisiana.  

LEON BRUMFIELD was born about 1879 in Louisiana. He died on 01 Jan 1931 in Ponchatoula, Tangipahoa, Louisiana. He married CHARLOTTE.

 ARDELLA BRUMFIELD was born on 15 Aug 1876 in Kentwood, Tangipahoa, Louisiana, USA. She died on 25 Oct 1966 in Bogalusa, Louisiana (Bogalusa Cemetery). She married GRANT BRUMFIELD, son of Gale Brumfield and Harriet Washington, on 01 Feb 1897 in Tangipahoa, Louisiana, USA. He was born in Oct 1869 in MT Herman WA, Louisiana. He died on 03 Jan 1928 in Bogalusa, Washington Parish, Louisiana.

 MAGGIE BRUMFIELD was born about 1877 in Louisiana. She died in 1970 in Louisiana

 HENSON BRUMFIELD was born in Jan 1880 in Louisiana.  

HANNA BRUMFIELD was born in May 1892 in Louisiana. She died on 01 May 1922 in Kentwood, Tangipahoa, Louisiana, USA. She married HENRY PAYNE STEWARD. He was born in 1884 in Louisiana. He died on 18 Mar 1963 in New Orleans, Jefferson, Louisiana, USA.

 CORINE BRUMFIELD was born in Sep 1884 in Louisiana.

 ADDIE BRUMFIELD was born in May 1886 in Louisiana.

 WASHINGTON BRUMFIELD was born in Jun 1887 in Louisiana. 

DOCK BRUMFIELD was born on 22 Sep 1875 in Lewiston, Louisiana. He died on 18 Jun 1947 in Tangipahoa, Louisiana. He married Lucinda Brumfield in 1897. She was born about 1884 in Louisiana.

LOUIS BRUMFIELD was born on 23 Feb 1883 in Kentwood, Tangipahoa, Louisiana, USA. He died in 1941 in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, USA. 6.

 HIRAM BRUMFIELD was born in 1883 in Louisiana, United States. He died on 18 Sep 1956 in Kentwood, Tangipahoa, Louisiana, United States. He married Dixie Brock, daughter of Andrew Brock and Julia A. Blankson, on 14 Feb 1907 in Washington Parish, Louisiana. She was born in 1890 in Louisiana.

FRANK BRUMFIELD JR was born in 1875 in Louisiana, United States. He died on 22 Jun 1959 in Independence, Louisiana USA.

 ADA BRUMFIELD was born in 1901. She died on 20 May 1940 in Orleans, Louisiana, USA. She married PARKER.
